Purpose
Established in 2009, the Hall of Fame award is TICA’s highest and most prestigious honor. It recognizes individuals who have demonstrated extraordinary dedication and selfless service to both the association and the ice cream industry over the course of their careers.
To be considered for The Ice Cream Association's Hall of Fame, a nominee must meet all of the following criteria:
- Held TICA membership for at least ten consecutive years.
- Participation in association leadership for a minimum of ten years (e.g., Board Member, Committee Chair, Officer, etc.).
- Served at least twenty years in the ice cream industry.
- Made significant contributions to the association, their company, and the broader industry in the fields of (but not limited to):
- Innovation – Initiatives or programs that positively impacted the association and/or industry.
- Leadership – Leadership roles within both TICA and their professional career.
- Education – Promoting industry best practices and trends for the benefit of all members.
- Only peer nominations are accepted. Self-nominations for the Hall of Fame are not accepted.
- Nomination does not guarantee induction.
- Nominees not selected in a given year may be re-nominated in future years.
- Submission requirements:
- Completed nomination form.
- Narrative (500-word min. and 1,000-word max.) explaining why the nominee should be inducted into the Hall of Fame, including specific examples of their impact.
- Up to 5 supporting materials are required (e.g., media coverage, performance data, testimonials).
- Nominations are reviewed by the Awards Committee using an objective scoring rubric.
- Any committee member with a conflict of interest (e.g., family member, same company) must recuse themselves.
- A committee member may not vote for themselves.
- A minimum of four out of five affirmative votes are required for induction. If a committee member recuses themselves, three out of four votes are required. Three affirmative votes is the minimum threshold.
- A maximum of two inductees may be selected per year. In some years, no members may be inducted.
- Only one representative per company may be inducted in a given year, but different individuals from the same company may be inducted in different years.
- Nominees will be notified of results before the end of summer by the Chair of the Awards Committee.
- In exceptional circumstances, the Awards Committee may rescind a previous Hall of Fame award.
- Award recipient is inducted into the Hall of Fame at the TICA Awards Ceremony, typically held in conjunction with the Annual Convention.
- Recipient must be present to accept the award, unless excused due to extenuating circumstances at the discretion of the Awards Committee.
- Award recipient will receive recognition via:
- On-stage presentation during the Awards Ceremony.
- Feature in TICA’s monthly newsletter.
- Highlight on the TICA website and social media channels.
- Award recipient will receive:
- An official Hall of Fame trophy.
- Lifetime complimentary Annual Convention registration (as long as they are not active in the industry).
- The inductee and one guest will receive up to two nights of lodging at the TICA Annual Convention hotel (as long as they are not active in the industry).
- A perpetual trophy and plaque with the Hall of Fame inductee’s name will be kept and maintained by TICA Headquarters whenever a new induction has occurred. The perpetual trophy will be displayed prominently at the TICA Annual Convention, then given to the inductee until the next induction. The perpetual plaque will be displayed at the International Dairy Association Headquarters.
